A Little Bit About Us
In January of 2005, Neal and Ryan Scherer were truck drivers working long hours hauling logs. Fueled by a desire to try something new, the Scherer family saw an opportunity to harvest and sell hay and sod. Neal, Billie, and son Ryan were living on a farm and already owned farming equipment and semi-trucks. With the purchase of a sod harvester and a lot of hard work and determination, the new entrepreneurs were on their way!
Neal and Ryan would get up early in the mornings to harvest the sod. They would then truck the sod to the east coast of Florida for a fresh cut installation. Slowly, Scherer Quality Farms began having customers in their local area requesting their services. A few employees were hired to help in the harvesting and installation. The decision was made to focus solely on commercial and general contractor projects. A commitment to quality and integrity have propelled Scherer Quality Farms to be one of the largest sod and hay farms in the area.
As the business grew, Billie Scherer left her career as a Registered Nurse to manage operations of the business. Daughter Kari joined the business in 2010, completing the family circle at Scherer Quality Farms.
